It's Good To Talk.
One of the strengths of the Centre is the help and support that our patients give to each other. The lounge/waiting area provides a friendly and informal atmosphere where patients can congregate and chat to each other.
Many new patients come to the Centre having been isolated and alone, not knowing that such a place as the Centre existed. This is where this support is vital. For knowing that there is somewhere to go where they can talk to others who both understand and are willing to listen can, and does, make a very big difference to many cancer patients, their family and their carers.
During this time patients can take advantage of our kitchen facilities which provides hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, toasties and other such snacks (all organic where possible). After all, talking is thirsty and hungry work!
The staff at the Centre understand the important role that such support has for many people, and see it as a kind of 'hidden therapy' that is only to be encouraged.
